After a season following his team, as he had never done before, Joey Saputo continues to be a central figure in the development of the rossoblù project. He continues to be so in the present but above all for the future. So Saputo tries, and he will want to do it in person with Thiago Motta, after Monday’s match which will be played against Juventus.
Motta’s is one of the most appreciated profiles in the European panorama of young coaches, all the same Arrigo Sacchi was in Casteldebole yesterday to experience an entire morning of rossoblù work (from 10.30am to 3pm). The former Rossoneri coach commented on what he observed: «Congratulations for the great intensity. Sincere congratulations”.
Saputo tries, the meeting
The rossoblù president is currently in Montreal, but will be in the shadow of the two towers this Monday to watch the match valid for third place in the standings. The match against Juventus is now a challenge on multiple fronts: historic, revenge for the two points denied in the first leg, the standings and Thiago Motta’s bench.
Just regarding the last point Joey Saputo doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned and will probably meet the Italian-Brazilian coach on Thursday (after the Champions League party). Fenucci has already expressed himself in the past on the company’s desire to continue this project together and Motta himself spoke weeks ago about human aspects that can influence the choice of one’s future. He will therefore try to get to grips with the relationship of great trust and appreciation that has been created within Bologna, from the upper levels to the lower ones that Thiago has always praised.
What can convince Motta?
Decision-making powers. The former Spezia coach has demonstrated his ability on the training pitch and the playing field has largely reflected the quality of the work done, but now he would like to greater centrality also in off-field choices. First of all, the rossoblù’s future will have to be planned towards growth and not adjustment, which seems to be already an established desire among the management. However, Motta would like to have more decision-making power also in the transfer field, which did not happen in the last session, when some of the profiles he reported did not arrive in Casteldebole. What is certain is that the work of Sartori and Di Vaio absolutely did not disappoint, on the contrary, it was the solid basis for giving the coach a squad capable of obtaining certain results.
Meanwhile Alessandro Canovi, Thiago Motta’s agent, declared: “I have known Thiago for 24 years, nothing has been decided and there will be a way to verify the various projects.” The ball is therefore still in the hands of Saputo who next week will perhaps try his last assault to keep the rossoblù leader on the soil of Bologna.
An ad hoc market
A lot could come from market planning, which we see as a basis from which to start the reconfirmation of many key points of this squad. Bologna has no intention of dismantling, and if it were Motta who asked to retain many of his players we could anchor ourselves precisely on this aspect to give continuity to a project which, with its effectiveness on Wednesday evening, will fill the streets of Bologna with rossoblù and it has already brought the enthusiasm to the stars.
