the Opelka inspiration and the passion for Immobile

The football appears at the Internazionali in Rome. Yesterday was spent on the “coexistence” between the two major events hosted by the capital: on one side the tennis Masters 1000 and a few hundred meters away the Italian Cup final. Today he thought about bringing cheer and football air Tommy Paul who beat the Polish Hurkcaz and reached the semi-final at the Roman tournament.

Paul-Hurkacz: what a battle on the central block

A real battle between Tommy Paul and Hubert Hurkacz, a clay court match with lots of breaks on both sides which in the end saw the American player somewhat surprisingly prevail. Paul seemed to be in control of the first set, but he allowed himself to recover a break before only managing to make the decisive break at the end for the 7-5. Match that seems to be aimed towards the tennis player from New Jersey but which completely changes momentum in the second set with the Pole who, after once again a complicated start, takes control of the match and closes almost easily at 6-3. In the third it is Hurkacz again who gives the sensation of being in total control going immediately to 2-0, but Paul isn’t up for it: first he makes an impact and then goes on to lead. The last game is the emblem of the match: 15 minutes long, 3 break points and 4 matchpoints.

Tommy Paul and cheering for Lazio

Tommy Paul has never made a secret of being a big Lazio fan and last Sunday he decided to spend the day at the Olympic Stadium to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1973/1974 championship. Over the last few days there have been several moments with the fans in which he once again highlighted his passion for football and even after the victory against Hurkacz he was no exception, with the usual signature on the camera and the writing “C’mon Lazio”.

And in the conference it was the American himself who explained his passion for the Biancoceleste: “My favorite player is Immobile. I went to see his game on Sunday and it was the only game I went to but I had a lot of fun. I became a fan because of Reilly Opelka, he’s the one who got me started but I don’t know how it started for him. I think he had a fan friend here in Rome”.

Rome in the sights: Korda and Opelka’s attacks

Football also made inroads at the Rome Internationals. A few days ago Sebastian Korda after his victory against the Roma fan Flavio Cobolli, he had a rather heated reaction against the home fans and at the end of the match he decided to express his preference with a “Forza Juve” shouted to the cameras. The person who was even more direct towards Roma is the player Reilly Opelka, a die-hard Lazio fan who has been dealing with injuries for some time. In recent days he responded to a message from Paul with the writing: “Romanista pineapple on the pizza”. And the derby is also played at the Internationals.
