Celiac disease: bill for the direct crediting of the voucher recognized by the State.

Disburse the money recognized to people with celiac disease directly into the citizen’s bank account in place of the voucher recognized by the State, through the National Health Service.

In extreme summary, the content of the legislative proposal of the Lega Vallée d’Aoste group, presented this morning by the secretary Marialice Boldi and by the first signatory, the regional councilor Andrea Manfrin.

Attention to healthcare and somewhat forgotten pathologies

Boldi reiterated “the League’s attention to health problems, especially linked to support for people suffering from somewhat forgotten pathologies, as has already happened with our initiatives for fibromyalgia and endometriosis”.

«Celiac disease is also a widely recognized pathology but for those affected it is complicated to be able to have the advantages provided for by national law» specified Boldi.

Today is World Celiac Day

The bill is presented on World Celiac Day, “this text has been ready for some time but the choice of this date is a message of attention for those who experience difficulties linked to the chameleon disease” according to the councilor Andrea Manfrin.

According to what Manfrin reported, in Valle d’Aosta there are only two, one in Aosta and one in Donnas, the affiliated large-scale retail outlets, where it is possible to spend the voucher recognized by the State for the monthly purchase of food and diet-therapeutic products .

In doing so, celiacs in the Aosta Valley are forced to turn to pharmacies, where, however, the costs are higher.

The proposed law

«The proposed law, as has already happened with the provincial law in Trentino, reverses the burden of the voucher and provides that the amount is paid directly into the current account – explains Manfrin -. By doing so, the products can be purchased in specialized shops, large-scale retailers, pharmacies and parapharmacies and on online purchasing sites and also outside the region, for example during holidays”.

The voucher loaded onto the health card is approximately 100 euros per month.

«A simple law that does not entail additional burdens on the regional budget, considering that the expenses are covered within the annual funding transferred from the Region to the Local Health Authority and which simplifies the complex bureaucracy» concluded Manfrin.

In our region, as reported by the Italian Celiac Association, there are approximately 650 diagnosed celiacs.
