“170 thousand euros of direct assignment, why?”

The works for the construction of the Museum of the Sea, designed by the famous arch star Zaha Hadid, are progressing at great pace. Councilor Romeo updated citizens on the state of the work on CityNow during the last episode of Live Break, underlining the significant progress achieved in recent weeks.

For example, the company for the reclamation of the area in which the museum will be built has been contracted.

“The contract – explained Romeo – was signed on March 29th and the company in charge of clearance of war ordnance is ready to start work, just waiting for the clearance from the Ministry of the Interior.

In addition to the reclamation, contracts have been drawn up with the Cobar company for the excavation works and the construction of the area”.

Councilor Romeo also expressed caution optimism on departure times:

“We are very advanced on the museum and I am moderately confident that we will be able to respect the opening times of the construction site”.

The city councilor Armando Neri

During the broadcast ‘Reggio Politik’ broadcast on Rtv, the municipal councilor of Lega Armando Neri asked for clarification regarding a recent assignment of the Falcomatà administration.

“I believe that the Maritime Museum is an important work for the present and future of the city, hoping that the current problems will be resolved. However, I wonder how the money linked to this work is being spent. In recent days I was reading in the Praetorian Notice Board about a determination of an assignment of a legal consultancy role for extrajudicial legal support.

Reliance of the amount of approximately 170 thousand eurosgiven out to a lawyer, when in reality the municipal administration is equipped with a Lawyers Sector, with a competent and very good lawyer manager and which has within it over 10 highly qualified lawyers who are equally competent and professional” , Neri’s statements.

The majority municipal councilor Franco Barreca, present in the RTV studios, replied by speaking of a perfectly legitimate assignment and due to the fact that the municipal administration has to deal with numerous lawsuits relating to off-balance sheet debts.

Armando Neri counter-replied with respect to the intervention of the councilor delegated to the water sector.

“Giving out-of-court legal advice worth 170 thousand euros, when there is a municipality with a civic attorney’s office, is a choice certainly legitimate but inappropriate. I wonder why the administration that held the competitions didn’t provide for the hiring of lawyers instead of hiring category B or other categories of an executive nature. Why didn’t he hire lawyers who could help fill these gaps if he was aware of them?

The problem hasn’t been resolved and then we go outside to look for lawyers paid with consultancy of over 170 thousand euros through direct assignments. I repeat, fully legitimate procedures, but in my opinion an inappropriate choice insofar as there is an internal municipal structure made up of a lawyer manager and more than 10 lawyers who are among other things holders of high qualifications, competent and professional people who defend the organization is in my opinion perfectly capable of carrying out this task too.

As citizens even before political exponents – concluded Neri – we would like to see that these sums are invested to advance the works, especially such important and strategic works for over 100 million euros, rather than this way, through solutions that could very well be found within the administration”.
