Gian Piero Gasperini spoke from the Acqua Cetosa “Giulio Onesti” Olympic Preparation Center in Rome on the occasion of the UEFA Media Open Day in view of next Wednesday’s Europa League final. Among the many topics touched on, Gasperini also spoke about Scamacca, who was absent from the Italian Cup final but was certainly a protagonist in Dublin against Bayer Leverkusen:
“Undoubtedly he has had a very positive evolution, especially in recent months. It is clear that his absence was noticed especially yesterday given his characteristics, in that type of game so blocked his physical presence would have been a more visible and more strong also for his teammates. It would have allowed him to play and develop better, he was undoubtedly missed. For Wednesday it will be another final against a very strong opponent. We have all been playing decisive matches for months, we did it in Liverpool first and then in Marseille, if if you didn’t win you went home. If we didn’t beat Fiorentina we went home, if we didn’t beat Roma we were out of the Champions League.
When you play all these matches you can also lose these matches, on Wednesday we want to arrive even better than we arrived yesterday, we prepare for this. We must remember the match in Lecce, for the championship we need three points for the mathematical certainty of the Champions League, we want to finish as soon as possible.
