On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of his death and on the occasion of the European Night of Museums 2024, The Municipality of Albawith the Federico Eusebio Civic Museumand the Beppe Fenoglio Study Center they organize Saturday 18 May a special day dedicated to Pinot Gallizioa multifaceted and non-conformist figure of the twentieth century from Alba.
We start in the afternoon with a story dedicated to the little ones. The Scirò Collective brings to the stage “Pinot, the Alchemist. From story to gesture”, theatrical performance and experimental laboratory to immerse girls and boys in the life of Pinot and in the artistic experience of industrial, collective and gestural painting. Once the pictorial action is completed, the canvas will be cut and each participant will choose a unique and unrepeatable piece of the work to take with them. The workshop will be held in the Cortile della Maddalena. Two performances are scheduled, at 4pm and 5.30pm. Recommended age 6-11 years. From 9pm, through an itinerary in the historic center, you will be able to discover the city as Pinot made his artist friends discover it: a theater of artistic and cultural experimentation. Each stage of the journey will tell a different side of Gallizio, archaeologist, partisan and politician, aromatizer, free artistand will be led by the Alba students of the Pinot Gallizio artistic high school and the Umberto I Institute. The boys, guides of the Gallician route, will welcome visitors in various points of the city centre: they will illustrate theherbalist And flavorer in the Rectory of San Giovanni in Piazza Pertinace, where there is also the medicinal herb garden dedicated to Pinot, they will talk about his political activity and partisan in front of the Beppe Fenoglio Study Centerwhere the monument to the partisans of the Langhe by Umberto Mastroianni is located, and, finally, the activity of a free artist in Beppe Fenoglio room where his works “The wind factories I – II” are kept and in the space of Mystery Bust in via Pertinace 3/b with the work “Entrelac del swan”. To the Eusebio Museumthe internal staff will tell and illustrate Gallizio’s archaeological collection. At some stages it will also be possible to see a preview of the video interviews with those who knew the man and the artist. The meeting point is at 8.45pm in front of the Study Center, where the itinerary will be illustrated and directions will be given to then proceed independently with the visit.
In folklore, Pinot Gallizio he is the creator of the Palio degli Asini in his role as municipal councilor and, before that, a member of the CLN of the Langhe during the Resistance, up to being the organizer of the Congress of free artists making Alba “free zone of the antiworld”.
