On the Lario it has rained without respite since yesterday evening, orange alert for the whole day today: risk of landslides

Heavy rain all night. And since yesterday evening throughout the Como area. The bad weather – with triple civil protection alert in the Como area – is making itself felt significantly even if so far, from what we have learned, no particular problems have been recorded. But attention remains high because the Comasca Meteorology experts warn of a very intense disturbance, even of a thunderstorm nature with persistent and self-healing storms that will affect our territory, resulting in increasingly critical conditions as the hours pass.

The showers will affect the different areas in “bands”, that is, bands of territory will be hit by these intense and self-regenerating rainfall while the others will remain on the margins. The phenomena will be rather continuous, with some dry breaks during the day.

Hail? No, very low risk. Strong wind? No, it is not in the main risks. Hydraulic risk and hydrogeological risk? Here, these are the biggest risks for today.

Huge rainfall will occur in our territories: this will determine the risk of even major flooding in the urban centers most subject to these critical issues when the land will be saturated and therefore will no longer have the capacity to absorb the water that will fall. For the Milanese area and the province of Monza and Brianza, the concrete risk will be that of witnessing a possible flooding of the Seveso and Lambro rivers due to abundant rainfall upstream as well as downstream. In the Larian and pre-Alpine sectors, however, given the expected heavy rainfall, the risk will be that of possible landslides or mudslides where the land will become saturated and no longer able to absorb water.

Precisely for this reason the Civil Protection has issued an orange alert in the area.

So far the level of Lake Como is stationary in these hours at an altitude of 70 centimeters: inflow of water and outflow are currently balanced
