On Saturday 18 May the Pope will be in Verona. What should we expect? We asked a long-time Vatican expert and now Editorial Director of the Dicastery for Communication of the Holy See, Andrea Tornielli. He passed by the editorial team of Faithful Verona before speaking at a meeting organized in the Bishop’s Palace by the Order of Journalists of the Veneto and the Italian Catholic Press Union, dedicated to the pontifical visit.
«It will be a surprise: when the Pope visits a city he meets its people and the visit to Verona is also full of many events, from priests to young people and children, from the Peace Arena to the meeting in prison – he told us – . These are meetings that the Pope always has when he visits a city and his words are always pronounced looking at the faces of those in front of him and therefore it is not possible to predict anything, because everything happens in the meeting with people, looking into each other’s eyes live ».

Also speaking at the meeting in the Bishops’ Hall, moderated by Stefano Filippi, journalist and president of Ucsi Verona, Anna PozziJournalist of World and mission on the theme “Forgotten wars (and crises)”. “It is essential to talk about peace today to open a look at the many situations of crisis and violence, of forced displacement of enormous population groups in various parts of the world, which no one talks about”, she underlined.

The meeting was concluded by the Bishop of Verona, Msgr. Domenico Pompili, who explored the meaning of Pope Francis’ presence in Verona a few days after this eagerly awaited event for the Christian and civil community.
