A 74-year-old woman died in a fire broke out at home in San Benedetto del Tronto, in the province of Ascoli Piceno. The old woman’s name was Floriana Bastianelli and she was found lifeless in her bedroom together with her dog by the firefighters, at the end of the operations to put out the flames which lasted about two hours. The fire broke out in a public housing building in via della Pace, in the Marche municipality. The intervention of the Fire Brigade began around midday on Tuesday 14 May, after requests for help from the neighbors and the victim’s son who had seen something thick smoke exit the third floor apartment.
In addition to the fire brigade teams from the San Benedetto del Tronto detachment, the 118 healthcare staff also arrived on site.

The fire extinguishing operations lasted almost two hours, before the 74-year-old’s body was found in the bedroom together with her dog. Due to the difficulty of the operation a firefighter collapsed due to an illness and was immediately helped by the 118 operators.
