UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemns all attacks against UN personnel and calls for a thorough investigation into the attack on a UN vehicle at the Rafah crossing in which two people were killed.
“Guterres is deeply saddened to learn of the death of a United Nations Department of Safety and Security (DSS) staff member and the injury of another DSS member when their UN vehicle was hit while traveling were going to the European hospital in Rafah on Monday morning” reads the statement in which the UN Secretary General sent his condolences to the family of the fallen staff member, renewing his urgent appeal for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and for the release of all hostages.”
UN deputy spokesman Farhan Haq said during his regular press briefing that they continue to gather information on the incident and reported that 196 UN personnel have been killed since October 7, when the Israeli attacks began. in Gaza.
Haq also said he is maintaining contact with authorities to ensure those responsible are held accountable once the conflict ends.
