It was a real one fiery night the one just spent in Salento, which saw the Red Helmets of the Provincial Command of Lecce intervene a short distance away in three municipalities of the province.
The hands of the clock pointed to approximately 1.10, when a team from the Veglie detachment intervened in Via Salvatore Quasimodo in Salice Salentino due to a fire involving a Renault, Kadjar. The fumes produced slightly damaged the facade of a nearby house.
The car that was destroyed is owned by Amedeo Rosato50 year old local, Councilor for Local Police and Budget of the municipality of Northern Salento.
“Our community woke up shocked by a news story that we never imagined we would be able to record: during the night unknown persons set fire to the car of the local police and budget councilor Amedeo Rosato”; said Mayor Mimino Leuzzi.
“The climate of fear and tension that such episodes create for the rights involved, for their families, and for an entire community, is not adequate for a society that wants to consider itself civil.
Trusting in the activity of the police to shed light on this serious episode and understand exactly what happened, its origins and dynamics, he concluded, we firmly condemn any targeted actions, we express total solidarity with Amedeo Rosato and we guarantee total collaboration to those investigate.
About an hour later, at 2.15 am, the same group went to Copertino, in Via Lepanto, for the fire in a Range Rover Freelandregistered to a 74 year old
Shortly afterwards, finally, at 2.50 am, the Fire Brigade of the Gallipoli detachment intervened in Corso Roma in the “Città Bella”, due to a fire that had affected a Fiat 900 van owned by a 42 year old.
Thanks to the rapid intervention of the teams, the flames were promptly put out and, once the extinguishing operations were completed, vehicles and areas were made safe, avoiding further damage to people and property.
