The Honorable Wanda Ferro shows active closeness to the world of firefighters; today the visit to the Catanzaro Command
This morning (13 MAY 2024) the Honorable Wanda Ferro visited the Catanzaro Fire Brigade. Welcoming her were the regional director, engineer Lucia, and the provincial commander, engineer Bennardo. The undersecretary spoke with the operational and administrative staff.
Commander Bennardo, after the institutional greetings, thanks the Honorable Ferro for his visit which strengthens a long-standing bond with the firefighters. Closeness perceived especially in the most difficult moments which often characterize the actions of those who, like firefighters, sacrifice their lives and loved ones to face requests for help from citizens.
THE PROJECT OF THE NEW BARRACKS
Following this, the regional director, engineer Lucia, after representing the greetings of all the commanders and firefighters of the other provinces in the region, illustrated the project of the new barracks which will be built in the Giulivetto area and which will be one of the most innovative in Italy. The work, already fully financed, will see the Regional Directorate, the Provincial Command and a land detachment brought together in a single site, so what will be carried out will be a unique pilot project in Italy at the moment. Engineer Lucia then explained that in recent years a significant purchase of new emergency vehicles has been carried out at central level, assigned to local offices, which has led – also in Calabria – to a “greening” of the vehicle fleet. Furthermore, due to specific projects financed under the PNRR, a series of electrically powered vehicles are being assigned.
CLOSE TO THE FIRE BRIGADES AND THE NEED FOR SAFETY
Concluding, engineer Lucia thanked Undersecretary Ferro for his constant support and active closeness to the “world” of the Fire Brigade, support and closeness which was particularly appreciated and which we are sure will be constant in the future too. The Honorable Ferro thanked the commander and the regional director for the warm hospitality and expressed strong words of appreciation for the work of the Fire Brigade who are constantly committed to guaranteeing technical safety to the community.
Further emphasis was placed on the need for security in general, meaning the need to consolidate investments in favor of the Armed Forces, the Police Forces and the Fire Brigade. The Honorable Ferro then underlined the importance of having adequate service locations and technical equipment because only in this way is the quality of the technical services that the Fire Brigade provides seamlessly and in every part of Italy promoted. The undersecretary, before leaving the Command, wanted to visit the service headquarters which for some time now has been affected by seismic adaptation works and underlined the maturity that the Fire Brigade personnel have demonstrated in knowing how to share the inconveniences that an area construction site undoubtedly determines in a location that operates 24 hours a day. Upon dismissing the Undersecretary, Commander Bennardo presented a Command crest in memory of the day.
