TO Palazzolo sull’Oglio_BS (Parco Metelli), as part of the Eatinero Food Truck Festival event, the national final of the European Street Food Awards took place, the largest competition in the world reserved for street food championsduring which the best Italian food trucks competed to access the European final scheduled for early October in Germany.

These are the results:

first place – the award for the best food truck in Italy went to Fumetto, Brescia food truck by Marco Bregoli and Roberta Anzioso (all the info here: www.fumettoperfetto.it)

second place – Van Ver Burger

third place – Pantura

From the From 10 to 12 May the Metelli Park in Palazzolo sull’Oglio will welcome some of the most renowned Italian food trucks with all their regional, ethnic and gourmet specialties in street food mode. It will be a special edition because Eatinero – an online platform dedicated to finding quality street food for events and catering – will host the Italian finals of the largest street food competition in the world: the European Street Food Awards.

We therefore expect a weekend full of new things to enjoy, a journey to discover the flavors and wonderful vans with a unique design and at the same time a “no holds barred” challenge, in the heart of the 6pm on Friday until midnight on Sunday.

As usual, the partner will be present at all Eatinero events Classy beer which at the moment will show off the smallest festival of craft beers thanks to its Birrabus, a vintage school bus and a selection of 30 taps of beer from all over Italy and moreover, only for this edition, the Darsena Cocfitail Bar, the cocktail bar on wheels for artisanal ice creams, artisanal cocktails, desserts and Pura Vita Caffè coffee.

L’European Street Food Awards is the most important European competition dedicated to street food and has relied on Eatinero for the fifth consecutive year selection of best Italian food trufflescalled to represent our country at the European final to be held in Saarbrücken in Germany: they will be the true protagonists of the event, as evidenced by the change in naming (from itinerant street food festival to Food Truck Festival), which the event wanted to work to put show cooking and the food trucks themselves increasingly at the center of the scene.

The Italian race will take place during the Eatinero Food Trucfi Festival stop in Palazzolo sull’Oglio.

Ten street chefs aboard their four-wheeled kitchens are ready to compete in a challenge appetizersraw materials of high qualitygreat classics gourmet and new interpretations, delicious combinations and tightrope walkers. From the Tuscan hills to the Po Valley countryside, from the hinterland to the sunny coasts of the Peninsula, the best of Italian street food is ready to gather on the banks of the Oglio river

The kitchens on wheels will compete to win the highly coveted title offered by the “European Street Food Awards – Italy”, a national declination of the global scale contest founded in 2017 by Richard Johnsonaward-winning journalist and gastronomic consultant, author of the best-seller “Street Food Revolution” as well as host of various BBC thematic formats.

Van Ver Burger – from Turin, winners of the 22nd European Street Food Awards for the People’s Choice category, the best food truck voted by the public, with Itinerant Plant Based cuisine, with plant-based burgers, always new combinations and a unique taste that will win you over!

B streets – from Piacenza, Emilian cuisine from Piacenza with KMO ingredients from the area and from the Slow Food network. The must-haves are the Batalàbar for which they have registered the trademark (tortelli with the Piacenza tail filled with different combinations), tigelle and focaccione.

Basulon – from Codogno (LO) with typical products from the Lodi area, zero kilometer, used to create gourmet burgers with interesting combinations!

Comic book – from Brescia with its succulent gourmet sandwiches stuffed with meat first smoked and then cooked on a spit and served in four different combinations, with pork or beef.

Pantura – from Milan but from Altamura, Altamura sandwich with grilled octopus, pinzimonio potatoes, cheesesteak burger, chips with fondue.

Nanni – Nannì Sapori Romaneschi – from Milan coming from Castelli Romani (RM) with Roman sandwiches based on porchetta di Ariccia PGI and typical products from the places on the outskirts of the capital and Lazio.

Rocfi Burger – from Turin. Rock Burger’s offer is the result of a careful selection among the excellences of the Piedmont area. Most of the products you will find in its burgers come from the hills of the Langhe, such as the selected pure Piedmontese veal meat from the Bertone family breeding farm.

Res8Guru – from Turin. Gourmet risottos expressed in street food style.

Bee Caesar – from Milan/Rome with gourmet burgers with revisited Roman recipes and supplì.

Corby’s – from Monza with gourmet sandwiches and club sandwiches with fish recipes and fish fries.

This year too they will be two Italian winners will participate in the European final, which will be held in Germany at the end of September.

A jury of experts will decide the winner, while the public will have to elect the best food truck for the “People’s Choice” category

The expert jury will meet on Saturday 11 May at 12 and will be made up of:

  • Bruno BelottiCouncilor for sport, productive and commercial activities and public heritage of the Municipality of Palazzolo sull’Oglio;
  • Victoria SmallRestaurant consultant & hospitality trainer, food and beverage management teacher, freelance journalist for Vice, Tuorlo Magazine and Founder of Lunchbox Milan, an event production and catering company.
  • Matteo Giarratanaaka “uomosenzatonno”, content creator and home cook
  • Claudio ZappaRestaurateur and owner of the El Galactico restaurant in Milan and of the food truck of the same name

Equally protagonist, the public will instead elect the best food trucfi for the “People’s Choice” category: all visitors who consume at least one dish with a minimum expenditure of 6 euros in one of the food trucks present in the square will be able to request a postcard to be placed in the ballot box of their favorite van. At the end of the event, the postcards will be counted and the best food truck in Italy will be elected in this special category.

  • Leader of the telluric Humulus and soloist inclined towards acoustic and psychedelic sounds, the singer and guitarist from Brescia presents folksession, an acoustic and unconventional jam, naturally predisposed to taking extemporaneous turns

9pm: Cek Franceschetti acoustic trio

10pm: European Street Food Awards – People’s Choice

  • Morblus is an Italian blues band founded in 1991 by singer and guitarist Roberto Morbioli. Its sound is steeped in funky, blues, r&b, and soul.

ENTRANCE TO THE EVENT IS FREE

The kitchens will be active Friday 10 May from 6pm, Saturday and Sunday non-stop from 11am to midnight.The food trucks will be supported by Beerbus Of Classy beer with a selection of artisanal blondes, reds and hopped ones – coming from countless Italian microbreweries – and cocktails on tap with artisanal spirits, artisanal ice creams and local coffee Darsena Cocfitail Bar. Free concerts every evening will finally be the backdrop to what will be the biggest street food festival of the year.
