Mourning in the world of politics for the death, at the age of 75, of Giuseppe Matteucci, former secretary of the Communist Refoundation of Lucca and exponent ofItaly – Cuba association and active in organizing the activities of the House of the People of Verciano.
He had acquired a long political militancy the post of party secretary, now led by Giulio Strambi, in 2014 after the death of Francesco Giuntoli.
He has been a member of the PCI since 7 November 1968 municipal councilor from 1980 to 1985 in Capannori. Was among the founders of the Movement for the Communist Refoundation in Lucca.
Capannori Popolare expresses its pain and condolences for the death of Giuseppe Matteucci, “historical comrade of the Italian Communist Party and then of Rifondazione Comunista”.
“Giuseppe’s last political act was last Friday – they say from Capannori Popolare – when he attended the presentation of the list to the administrative offices of Capannori. A final act that fully represents the strength of mind of a comrade who has never resigned himself to these difficult times of politics in our country, but who he looked with courage and hope to the new generations for a future of social justice for all. We join the family, the entire community of Rifondazione and Casa del Popolo. He who has companions never dies.”
Even the Lucca assembly of Potere al Popolo joins in the pain of Giuseppe Matteucci’s family and political community: “Giuseppe represented for all of us a companion from whom we could learn and with whom we could discuss, even heatedly, a point of reference for our political growth. Many, many of us, in fact, met him at a young age and over the years we have appreciated him for his honesty, for his spirit of service, and for his daily commitment to the collective good. We will miss Giuseppe, but we will continue to fight for him too, with the stubbornness that he was able to teach us”.
