CIVITELLA DEL TRONTO – Around 6.15pm today, a team of the Teramo firefighters intervened to search for a missing person in the Gole del Salinello area, in the municipality of Civitella del Tronto. The man, a 36-year-old resident of Martinsicuro, engaged in an excursion in search of mushrooms, following a fall was unable to retrace the path to return to the car parked after Ripe di Civitella. The injured person called the emergency number 112 to request help, but was unable to give precise information on his position. Immediately afterwards the phone turned off and was unable to provide any further information useful for the search. The firefighters, in addition to the operational team, requested the intervention of the Drago 52 helicopter of the Pescara fire brigade’s flight department, while the NUE (Single Emergency Number) center also sent the rescue helicopter to the scene health 118. The two helicopters reached the site of the intervention and searched a large area in search of the missing person. The crew of the fire brigade helicopter identified the missing person in the area below the hermitage of San Francesco. An air rescuer reached him and once he was harnessed he was winched aboard the fire brigade helicopter with which he was transported to the Mazzini hospital in Teramo. The Carabinieri of Alba Adriatica also intervened on site to carry out their duties.
