The Serbian champion signs autographs when he is hit in the head by a water bottle that accidentally fell from a spectator’s backpack.
Novak Djokovic he shared a message on social media to explain how he is, what his health (and mood) conditions are after being hit by a water bottle while signing autographs. The incident happened shortly after the match Italian Internationals in Rome won against the French Corentin Moutet: the Serbian champion was leaving the field when, called by the public, he stopped to satisfy the fans’ requests.

One of these, in an attempt to attract his attention, leaned too far from the railing and the aluminum case slipped from his backpack, accidentally injuring the tennis player.

A video taken from another angle clarified the exact dynamics of the story after the speculations and indiscretions on the causes of that gesture: it was not an act of hatred and violence but of pure clumsiness. All to try to stretch a notebook to collect a coveted heirloom, but it went terribly wrong and luckily that clumsy attitude didn’t have serious consequences.

The tennis player’s condition: “He was shocked”, but he is fine
“He was upset”were the first immediate words from the spokesperson of the Italian Tennis Federation, Alessandro Catapano, who described the player’s state of mind, understandably angry and worried about what had happened to him. “We ourselves are shocked and are trying to fully understand what happened”.

The clips that circulated on social media in the following hours first of all denied any fake hypothesis of conspiracy (theory fueled by Nole’s most hardened supporters) and revealed that in reality it was a very banal unexpected event caused by the lack of caution of a spectator who was anything to have a dedication from the world tennis star. The young man immediately ran away after realizing he had made a big deal.

Djokovic had a lump on his head and was examined by doctors. The blow he took caused a deep abrasion (that’s why he lost some blood) but not enough to require the application of stitches. The day of rest will allow him to recover in view of the next match on the draw: on Sunday he will face the Chilean Alejandro Tabilo in the third round of the Italian Open.
