Celebrating the victory of the sixth stage of the Giro d’Italia is the Spaniard Pelayo Sanchez, Pogačar keeps the pink jersey, but in Rapolano Terme the party had already started days ago. In the municipality of the Siena area, pink reigned supreme, together with a festive atmosphere such as is not often seen. Numerous citizens and foreigners reached Rapolano in the morning to enjoy the exploits of the cyclists. Music, colors, confusion and a lot of passion made the citizens breathe a different atmosphere.

“It is a special day – comments the mayor of Rapolano Terme Alessandro Starnini -, which we have been preparing for many days. The citizens immediately made themselves available to make Rapolano Terme more beautiful than ever and I am proud of the fact that the organizers, when they arrived, were amazed by the welcome”.

“I am very excited, because I have never seen the place where I was born so beautiful – explains Giorgia Pierli, student and resident of Rapolano Terme -. It is rare to experience such events; so, even if I’m not passionate about cycling, I want to immerse myself in the climate.”

“Where the Giro d’Italia passes, the party arrives – comments Lorenzo Rustioni, physical education teacher and footballer -. I’m not from Rapolano Terme, but arriving here and finding so much confusion is beautiful. For this reason I love cycling and I hope that this is Pogačar’s year.”

It was not, therefore, just the day of Sanchez or Pogačar in the pink jersey, but above all it was the day of the inhabitants, even the less passionate ones who however colored the town, organizing lunches and barbecues on their terraces and in their gardens. Guaranteed fun and technological inventions never seen before.

“Together with my group of friends we organized a lunch open to anyone who wants to stay with us – explains Tiziano Rossi known as Il Trinca, a resident of Rapolano Terme -. Our friend Carlo has made his home garden available and the door is open to everyone. In fact, in addition to being cycling enthusiasts, we really love eating and having fun. This morning we got to work and built the so-called “sustainable sausage” with two bikes: by pedaling the bikes we produce electricity and we run the refrigerator, the stove and everything we need today.”
