Yes to the organ transplant of the 27-year-old who was hit in Naples, Rita Granata, in the night between last Saturday and Sunday and died yesterday. The young girl’s parents in fact gave their consent to the doctors at the Nocera Inferiore hospital for the donation. Once the consent of the family members was obtained, the assessment of brain death began immediately by the specific commission, chaired by Dr. Massimo Petrosino and composed of the medical director of the Nocera-Pagani-Scafati Dea, Dr. Rosa Santarpia, and the doctors Ranieri (neurologist) and Scarpato (resuscitation anesthetist).
Once the observation period required by law was over, the surgical activities began which made it possible to remove the organs: the liver, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas and corneas, which, entrusted to the various teams involved, left for the various transplant centers located in as many Italian hospitals. The hospital company also expressed gratitude to the parents and family for the strength shown in such a tragic circumstance, in which, however, they managed to find the strength for a gesture of love and solidarity of the highest ethical and moral value, which gives life expectancy to many other people waiting for a transplant in many parts of Italy.
