Among the novelties of the presentation event Let Loose there is also room for new iPad Air 2024 which goes alongside the new iPad Pro 2024, updated with the new Tandem OLED display and the new M4 chip. There are also several new features for the iPad Air range. As expected, in fact, Apple has updated its mid-range tablet with a new chip and has enriched the range with the debut of new 13 inch version.

iPad Air 2024: technical characteristics

There are two big news for the iPad Air range: with the new 2024 version, in fact, the Apple tablet moves to M2 chip (with 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine) which offers superior performance compared to the previous M1. In particular, according to Apple, the new version of iPad Air is 50% faster compared to the variant with M1.

The second novelty is represented by the updating of the range, with the introduction of 13 inch variant which joins the 11-inch one, thus creating a parallel with the iPad Pro line and its two variants. The display, for both the 11-inch and 13-inch tablets, remains a Liquid Retinaenriched by an anti-reflection treatment and technology True Tone. iPad Air can be combined with a external monitorwith resolution up to 6K and refresh rate up to 60 Hz.

The new Apple tablet is sold in four cuts of memory: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. Then there is a 12 Megapixel rear camera and a front camera with an ultra-wide angle sensor, also 12 Megapixel.

The available connections are the Wi-Fi 6E (as with the iPad Pro, there is no Wi-Fi 7 yet), the Bluetooth 5.3 and a door USB-C (with data transfer up to 10 Gbps). iPad Air 2024 is also available in version WiFi+Cellular (only with eSIM, however) and is compatible with Apple Pencil and with the new one Apple Pencil Prounveiled alongside the new iPad Pros.

The body, made of recycled aluminium, is available in four colors (Space Grey, Blue, Purple and Galaxy). The thickness, for both dimensions, is 6.1 mm while the weight is 462 grams (11 inches) or 617-618 grams (13 inches). The sensor is positioned on one of the short sides of the tablet Touch ID. In total, there are four speakers, two on each side. For the WiFi+Cellular models there is also GPS. The operating system is iPadOS 17.
