Tourists in Friuli Venezia Giulia, attendance increased by 16.3%

TRIESTE The presence of tourists in Friuli Venezia Giulia increased by 16.3% in the first three months of 2024 compared to the same period of 2023. The greatest increase concerned foreign tourists (+24%), while the share of Italians rose by 10.9%.

The growth particularly concerned presences in seaside resorts (+46.4%), while the mountains and cities recorded +4.4% and +11.1% respectively.

These are some data released today, Tuesday 7 May, by the Fvg Region, during a meeting in Trieste with PromoturismoFvg, for the launch of the 2024 summer season. In the first three months there was an increase in particular in arrivals from Ireland (+86%), Germany (+38.6%), Austria (+38.2%), United States (+32.1%), Spain (+31.2%), Poland (+27.1%).

For the summer season, from June to September, according to a survey by Demoskopika, 6.8 million tourist presences are expected (+3.2% compared to 2023), of which 4.4 million are foreigners. Direct tourist spending is expected to increase by 10.2% and could reach around 1 billion euros. The Austrians, Germans, Czechs and Italians from the North East declare the greatest interest in Fvg; the age group of tourists is between 36 and 64 years and the beach holiday is the favourite. More than 9 out of 10 interviewees, Italians and foreigners, who declare they know Fvg express their interest in visiting it. 98.4% who visited it would like to return.

«The data on tourism are positive – explained the president of Fvg, Massimiliano Fedriga – and the forecast data for 2024 are also higher than expectations. We are working for an all-round offer on Fvg, also with a renewal of communication”. «Even the presence we had in the international media, for example in Times Square – he added – allowed us to reach new countries that were out of reach of the Fvg. There will also be a series of important events, such as summer concerts and TV events that will talk about Fvg. We are optimistic and are continuing to work with the production sector to expand the offer and improve it.”
