Another scam aimed at an elderly person, taking advantage of the fear that his daughter had caused a serious road accident and managing to extract 10 thousand euros from him.
This despicable event struck a 93-year-old from Borgosesia: last May 3, his home telephone number received a call from a woman who, without specifying her role, claimed that the man’s daughter had caused an accident road with injuries and that, to avoid immediate arrest, it was necessary to pay a substantial bail in cash or, alternatively, in precious objects.
The man, very worried, collected everything he had in his house, i.e. a quantity of gold objects with a total value of around 10,000 euros. Shortly afterwards, a man showed up at the home of the unfortunate man with the task of collecting the alleged deposit. For the victim, the memories of a lifetime disappeared. Naturally, later the old man’s daughter, after discovering what had happened, first reassured her father that there had been no accident, then she formalized the complaint. The Carabinieri of the Station and the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of Borgosesia are investigating, in order to at least identify the criminals.
