The mistake of entering politics
Responding to one of the many questions posed by Nunzia De Girolamo during the program which aired after midnight, Montesano did not hide and did not hold back in having his say.
Above all on his political career, which from July 1994 to November 1996 led him to be a member of the European Parliament for the PSE, elected in the Central Italian constituency. A choice that Montesano today considers a mistake, a choice not to be made again.
The artist, in fact, was clear and direct in responding to De Girolamo.
I regretted having done it, because I have it only bad things came. Maybe I also displeased those who didn’t think like me, I deluded myself because I thought I was doing something good and beautiful for my country
Resignation without pension
Despite the error of judgement, however, Montesano was clear in leaving before things got more complicated. In fact, during the interview with Nunzia De Girolamo, the 78-year-old recalled that his experience in politics lasted just 22 months “without even earning a pension as a European parliamentarian“.

A decision that, today, he would make again as “no one can say that it burdens the taxpayers’ pockets”.
Participation in Dancing with the Stars
Another mistake of his recent television career is then Dancing with the Stars. Montesano, in fact, said he regretted having participated in the program hosted by Milly Carlucci.
A competitor who created quite a bit of controversy, even being excluded for a Decima Mas t-shirt, the 78-year-old underlined: “That’s another thing that maybe I wouldn’t do again.”
He was clear on why: “I did it with cognitive dissonance. I was fascinated by the fact that I could – before performing as a dancer, because I danced seriously – express myself as an artist, an actor… I made some presentations that seemed nice to me”.
