“They were two special people and I miss them more every day”: this is what Nicolò Maja said, the only survivor of the family massacre in Samarate (Varese) where his father killed his mother and sister.

I’m sure that my mother and my sister Giulia would be proud of me, of the path I’m taking to return to a normal life after everything that has happened.“, the 25-year-old said in an interview with the newspaper Il Giorno.

Just yesterday, Friday 3 May, the interior designer wrote a letter to his son again. The man tried, once again, to want to reconnect with the boy: “Right now I’m not ready to meet him – explains Nicolò – maybe it could happen in the future, not alone but accompanied by other people. Physically I am better, I am recovering and my desire is to find a job in the aeronautics sector, in line with my studies“.

The boy goes two days a week to the Progetto 98 social cooperative in Somma Lombardo. He attends some recovery courses, physiotherapy sessions and some meetings with psychologists. He underwent delicate skull reconstruction surgery after his father smashed it with a hammer: “They told us that he will be able to return to his previous life. There’s no point in crying, we have to stand by him and help him. His father, in one night, destroyed everything“said the grandfather.

He himself wrote a letter to the murderer of his daughter and granddaughter asking to waive the appeal to the Court of Cassation. This will be discussed in the coming months. Alessandro Maja aims to recognize the inability to understand and want.
