It officially ended yesterday evening (Friday 3 May) at Zancanaro Theatre Of Sacile the 2024 edition of International piano competition PianoFVG, now counted among the most prestigious in the world. Created and directed by Davide Fregona – and created thanks to the FVG Region, the Municipality of Sacile and the Friuli Foundation – the competition has always had as mission the one of identify talented emerging pianists under 30 from Worldwide and start them at one concert career international. THE six finalists of this edition (coming from Italy, China, Thailand, Russia and Japan) have challenged each other in recent days in solo rehearsals and with Orchestra – this year the prestigious regional team FVG Orchestra, conducted by Paolo Paroni – in front of an international jury chaired by famous pianist Dubravka Tomšič, doyen of Slovenian pianism, flanked by great piano masters worldwide: Marcella Crudeli, Anna Kravtchenko, Ick-Choo Moon, Natalia Troull, Vincenzo Balzani, Carles Lama.

View the very high level of the competitorswho until the end were on the edge of final victory, it was not possible to assign an overall first place: the ex aequo, in fact, is not foreseen by the Competition regulations, as happens for the main international competitions. They were, therefore, assigned two second places: it’s Italian Ruggiero Fiorella and Chinese Yuewen Yu: for the final performance Fiorella performed the Concerto n. 2 in G minor op. 16 Of Prokofiev While Yuewen Yu he performed music by Rachmaninoff. Third place for the Thai Supawee Srisurichan. The special prizes had already been awarded last May in the first phase of the Competition, which this year has become a competition taking place over two years. «Never before have we been able to count on competitors of the highest artistic level as in this edition» – commented Davide Fregona. «The quality of the participants has further increased so I can only express full satisfaction for these “magnificent six” who expressed the best that can be heard at the moment. Two of all stood out: an absolute first prize could not be awarded, as they arrived tied in the Jury’s scores, but having recognized two second places is testimony to the high value of both. The decision to renew the formula by scheduling the Award over a two-year period proved to be a fortunate one», concludes Fregona: «a way to give competitors greater opportunity to prepare for the final stages». The performances were all open to the public and conducted on stage by an excellence of our region, the mezzo-soprano Valentina Volpe Andreazza.

Particularly suggestive and effective this year the setup of the Zancanaro Theater which, thanks to the collaboration of the set designer Federico Cautero, has been enriched with an unprecedented visual frame with latest generation virtual scenographies.

Numerous authorities were present in the room for the final: in addition tothe Mayor Carlo Spagnol and the councilors Ruggero Spagnol and Antonella Baldo, the Prefect of Pordenone Natalino Domenico Manno, the Commander of the Guardia di Finanza Giovanni Di Nuzzo and representing the NATO Base and Military Airport Pagliano e Gori the General Tad D. Clark and the Lieutenant Colonel Riccardo Isoli. Naturally present the engineer Paolo Fazioli of Fazioli Pianoforti, who has always been the technical partner of the Competition. See you at the next edition of the competition which will take place in May 2025 for the first two selection tests and will end in 2026 with the final.
