Trieste – The second edition of the “Trieste Festival – The Lighthouse of Music” was presented at the Caffè Sacher Trieste, conceived and organized by the Società dei Concerti Trieste, from 7 to 18 September, with a preview on 5 September in Piazza dell’Unità of Italy, will transform Trieste, a crossroads of people and cultures, with its wonderful theatres, buildings, squares and landscapes unique in the world, into a stage with world-famous artists and incomparable events to tell and experience the city through the emotion of music and, new this year, also dance.

«The Festival – explains the Artistic Director, M° Marco Seco – reflects the approach with which we build all the projects of the Società dei Concerti: it is a melting pot of stimuli, sounds and emotions. We want the public to be able to live an immersive experience, in which they can choose their own path through the performances of the great soloists on the international scene with programs ranging from the Renaissance to today’s music, in symphony and chamber concerts, dance performances, meetings in-depth courses or workshops to bring children and their families to have their first musical experiences. All this in one of the most beautiful and culturally rich cities in Italy which offers us the opportunity to listen to concerts in castles, parks or cafés, places full of history that distinguish it or on the sea with which it has a historical and of beauty”.

The 2024 program proposed by Maestro Marco Seco is full-bodied, heterogeneous and captivating. In fact, this year the Festival doubles its offer with twenty-nine events that will truly involve every corner of the city, touching over twenty different locations including a floating platform positioned in the sea in front of Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia (Scala Reale) on which, in a free event, the cellist Maestro Giovanni Sollima will perform with a surprise programme, dedicated to Bach and his compositions (14 September, 8pm).

Four symphonic events will be held at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste together with names of great international appeal such as the pianist Alexander Melnikov who will play with LaFil of Milan directed by Maestro Marco Seco, music by Mozart, of which Alexander is considered among the performers most authoritative (7 September, 8.30 pm), Andreas Ottensamer, first clarinet of the Berlin Philharmonic who will perform for the first time in Italy together with the LaFil orchestra of Milan as director (9 September, 8.30 pm), and again Giovanni Sollima , here in the double role of director and soloist, who will conduct and play together with the Orchestra of the Fondazione Teatro Lirico G.
