Nola, on the day of San Paolino the Jubilee bell. Tomorrow the procession and historical re-enactment of the Saint and on Sunday there will be great anticipation for the transport of the stripped Lilies

The bell of the Jubilee of 2025 in Nola on the day on which the liturgical memory of San Paolino, Father of the Church and secondary patron of Campania, occurs.

The precious symbol, which owes its introduction to liturgical use to Saint Paulinus, will be brought to the city by the Pontifical Bell Foundry Marinelli of Agnone.

The occasion is that of the historical re-enactment of San Paolino scheduled for tomorrow evening in Piazza Duomo.

“The Holy Poet between History and Legend”, gives the title to the representation written by Francesco Puccio and Gaetano Stella, who will also direct it and born from an idea by Antonio Grilletto.

It will be a moment full of suggestions and emotions despite the rigor of a plot that required in-depth studies and research: the spectacular historical re-enactment will begin at the end of the procession of the silver bust of the Saint which will be presided over by Bishop Francesco Marino.

The religious procession will start from the cathedral of Nola at 7pm and represents one of the most engaging moments of the ancient Feast of the Lilies.

“The re-enactment – the authors say – involves as many as 60 actors who, in strictly period costumes, will take the spectators present in Piazza Duomo back in time. The pages of history will flow like a book written through documentary research but also and above all taking inspiration from the visceral bond between the Nolans and their saint. Special effects and spectacular scenography will multiply the suggestions and emotional involvement of the guests. An impressive work to tell the figure of a saint whose story is the history of the city itself.”

Tomorrow’s exciting program will be followed, on Sunday 23 June, by the traditional appointment of the stripped lilies which will be transported from the construction sites to the squares that will welcome them until Sunday 30 June, the day of the Lilies Festival, the thousand-year-old and spectacular religious and cultural tradition , a UNESCO world heritage site.

It starts at 10am with 4 of the 8 obelisks which, together with the boat, are the absolute protagonists of the oldest festival in the world. Dancing on the shoulders of the cradles will be the Salumiere

the Bettolier, the Shoemaker and the Tailor while from 6pm it will be the turn of the Greengrocer, the

Baker, Butcher and Blacksmith.

“We will experience – underlines Francesco De Falco, president of the Festa Dei Gigli Foundation, particularly engaging moments, events awaited for a year by all the citizens of Nola which fuel a unique and extraordinary passion, so extraordinary as to be not only inimitable, but immortal. This is why we have worked precisely to enhance the ingredients that make the festival dedicated to San Paolino a unique and unrepeatable event. Valuing our ancient cultural heritage and grasping the contemporary elements that can enhance its contents: this is the key to giving even more strength and prominence to our history”.
