United, we win. All. Women often forget this. Busy, distracted, chronically late, aiming for crazy self-imposed goals, unattainable for the average human being. Well, on Sunday 5 May, we stop. It doesn’t matter about makeup and hair, you find yourself drawing a huge, overflowing pink river. You walk, you run, you look at two shop windows, it doesn’t matter. The important thing is to be there, for women: for themselves and for others. The aim is noble, to raise funds for Lilt, the Italian league for the fight against tumors. And when women are called to fight, no one stops them. The edition is the first in double figures, number 10. There will be more than ten thousand, to give support to those who have fought, are fighting and will have to fight against cancer.
For those who are no longer here, but also – banally – because “if I don’t move on Sunday, I will never move again”, “because all my friends go”. Sisters for a day, some husband or boyfriend nearby, but oh well, as long as you don’t disturb. She fights against cancer, because together we win, with a smile, a handshake, a hug. We talk about research, the right to health, prevention. Sometimes you don’t need institutional frames, a pink t-shirt is enough. And if you really want to say it all, that’s not even needed.
The event
Treviso in pink is not a race, it’s not even a race, because the majority of participants tackle it by walking, without rushing. It is a celebration dedicated to all women, who for one Sunday a year pleasantly take possession of the heart of the city, coloring it with smiles and joy, but also taking the opportunity to reflect on important topics, such as health protection and solidarity. Treviso in rosa is open to all women, regardless of age: many mothers show up at the start pushing the stroller and many grandmothers. This is to say that the identity card is never an obstacle to participation.
Every woman can interpret the event freely: running or walking. Keeping an eye on the stopwatch, the sportiest; or taking the opportunity to discover the most beautiful places in Treviso, for those who are not in a hurry to arrive. And maybe celebrate with an aperitif in the company of friends once you cross the finish line. And if you don’t cut it, it’s fine, it was enough to be there.
Path
The departure of Treviso in pink will take place at 9.30 from viale Bartolomeo d’Alviano, at the foot of the Walls. There will be a single start, while there will be two routes, entirely in the historic centre. The distances? 4 and 7 km. The route will touch the most evocative corners of the historic center: from the Pescheria to Piazza San Leonardo, from Piazza Duomo to Piazza dei Signori, from Piazza San Vito to Riviera Santa Margherita. The last stretch of the route will be above the walls. Finish line near the Bastione San Marco, where the final refreshment point will be located.
