The city management of Confessorsafter having already sent the proposal to the outgoing mayor Biancheri, is now launching a proposal to all the mayoral candidates, asking them to express their opinion.
“On the occasion of 50 years of the Tenco Prizewe believe it is necessary – he declares Domenico Alessicity president – that the Municipality of Sanremo pays homage, in a particular way, to the historical importance of the internationally important figure of Amilcare Rambaldi”.
Born in Sanremo at the beginning of the millennium, he was a flower exporter by trade and he had a strong sense of civil and political responsibility, but above all a vivid love for art. He had to see the war: campaign in Ethiopia, subsequently active in the anti-fascist resistance with the partisans of the Upper Argentina Valley. Once the war was over, he was appointed to a project to relaunch the Sanremo Casino, with the task of proposing ideas to revitalize the city through events and shows. Rambaldi prepares a long list, from which the city took inspiration to create the Fashion Review, the international bridge tournament. His friendship with Angelo Nizza, head of the press office of the Sanremo Casino, is historic. Thanks to a suggestion from Amilcare, the first edition of the “Italian Song Festival” was born with the famous live radio broadcast on 29 January 1951 from the Festival Hall of the Municipal Casino. After the tragic fate of the singer-songwriter Luigi Tenco, which occurred in Sanremo, Amilcare wanted to pay homage to him, but not through a simple memory in suffrage, but through an award that would protect and highlight all Italian and international songwriting. Thus was born Club Tenco and the Tenco Award. In the following years, Amilcare continued with a tireless and determined cultural activity, collecting various awards, including the recognition of “meritorious citizen” of Sanremo in 1978. Amilcare Rambaldi passed away in his sleep at the age of 84, after a life spent to carry on your dream.
“We appeal to all the candidates – concludes Alessi – to sign the proposal of Confesercenti Sanremo to name a street or square after Amilcare, in which he can play the music he loved so much and which he expressed with great competence and foresight, through the which the name of Sanremo still echoes throughout the world today”.
