It was a fiery May Day for road haulage. In the literal sense, because on the first day of May 2024 two fires broke out in as many road haulage companies at both ends of Italy. In Piedmont the flames broke out around two in the morning in the Fratelli Monzani warehouse in Borgomanero, in the province of Novara. Inside the plant there were industrial vehicles and drums of lubricating oils, which favored the fire and made the work of the firefighters difficult. Firefighters extinguished the last fires in the morning and investigations began to discover the causes of the fire. In Sicily the flames broke out during the night in a haulage company in Scalea, in the province of Agrigento, destroying three industrial vehicles, two of which were loaded with paper. Investigations have also begun in this case, which do not exclude the possibility of arson.
