Lazio Under 18 beat Fiorentina away in the midweek round, winning 1-2 at Viola Park.
Midweek round for the Under 18 national championship: Francesco Punzi’s eagles born in 2006 conquer ‘Viola Park’, beating Fiorentina with a score of 1-2.
A first half fought on both fronts. Lazio took the lead in the 20th minute with Serra; Fiorentina managed to equalize only in the 40th minute with Vascotto: the first half ended 1-1.
In the second half the score did not change, both Lazio and Fiorentina looked for the goal. In the 12th minute the Tuscans came close to taking the lead with D’Amato, but the ball went just wide. The Biancocelesti try with a corner kick scheme, but Cuzzarella’s shot ends just above the crossbar. In the 35th minute it was Cuzzarella himself, with a nice personal move, who put his signature on Lazio’s lead, bringing the result to a final 1-2. The match is coming to an end, with 5 minutes of added time. In full extra time, the Viola came close to scoring an equalizer, but Generali ate the goal with the goal unguarded. The final whistle arrives: between Fiorentina and Lazio it ends 1-2.
Mister Punzi’s eagles secure their sixth consecutive useful result, taking fifth place in the standings, awaiting the Cagliari-Genoa match scheduled for 8 May. The next match for the Biancoceleste Under 18s is scheduled for Saturday with another direct clash: Lazio awaits Cagliari at the ‘La Borghesiana’ Sports Centre. There are four days left until the end of the Regular Season and Lazio is one step away from qualifying for the playoffs.
