The results of the testing of some pharmacy services in Liguria are extremely encouraging; just think that since July 2023 they have been 10,700 telecardiology services were performed in pharmacies in the region while, starting from last December, pharmacies delivered over 9,000 colorectal cancer screening kitswith direct consequences on streamlining waiting lists.
Telecardiology in the pharmacy
Any citizen with a chronic disease has a prescription from a general practitioner or specialist you can contact a pharmacy to request a telecardiology service.
The performance will come provided free of charge to exempt citizens or to those with significant chronic pathologies; non-exempt people with a recent prescription can benefit from the free admission.
The services provided so far have been 10,660, divided as follows: 4,194 electrocardiograms, 4,170 cardiac holters and 2,296 pressure holters. It was a service he got extremely positive feedbackby citizens thanks, in particular, to the ease of use. In consideration of the results achieved, the testing fund has been extended to the end of 2024.
Oncology prevention in the pharmacy
Another extremely positive initiative is that of ‘Prenoto prevengo’, project relating to colorectal screening in pharmacies.
«The experimentation started in ASL 3 but, as the president of the Region, Giovanni Toti, recently underlined, the intention is to extend it to the entire regional territory“, has explained Francesca Massadirector of Federfarma Liguria.
There are 159 participating pharmacies. Compared to last year, the kits collected in pharmacies have tripled, with increasingly significant participation from citizens. New services will be announced soon, including prevention of the population at risk of diabetes.
