Of Claudio Almanzi. Alassio. Illustrator and graphic designer, master of chromaticism, surrealist and poetic, Venetian and Ligurian by adoption: these are some of the definitions that can be given to the extraordinary artist Antonella Zanardi. Zanardi obtained an art diploma at the “Martini” art school in Savona. She is originally from the Veneto, and became an Alassina by adoption. She has returned for some time, after many years, to her beloved Veneto. In the brightness of the “Bay of the Sun” she has long found inspiration for her fascinating polychrome dreams. In fact, it is precisely the light and colors of the Riviera that are the basis of her art. The artist has numerous and important personal and collective exhibitions behind him. She creates works with mixed media, favoring landscape and figurative art. Equipped with great chromatic and plastic sensitivity, she represents a fantastic and surreal world with her illustrations and drawings. Many beautiful drawings of hers have been included, as a commentary on the lyrics of the late poet Roberto Giannantonioin a splendid volume of Art published by Delfino Moro of Albenga. The illustrations contribute to the construction of dreamlike settings and atmospheres full of pathos. Versatile artist, he prefers landscape and figurative works, but not linked to classical canons. His works are always pervaded by a sense of visionary surrealism and hyperrealism.

Over the years he has crossed various genres and created drawings and illustrations also inspired by the taste of the avant-garde and experimentation. She is a master in the use of mixed media, she amazes with her use of colour, so much so that even those less expert in art can realize how Zanardi is truly a great virtuoso in the use of tempera and how much she possesses a remarkable graphic flair. The strength and beauty of many of her creations make her drawings so personal and representative that they could adapt perfectly to theatrical sets or backdrops in which the superimposition of color veils and stylistic solutions become ideal tools for an imaginative timeless logistics. After having always oriented towards mixed media for a long time, she created drawings and illustrations for books and stories, then also turning to watercolour. Subsequently she also resumed the stone painting technique that she had already successfully experimented with in the past, while now she has returned to her great passions: drawing, graphics and illustration. She is also a great master in the use of tempera, she has an extraordinary ability to superimpose veils of color and always new stylistic solutions that prevent her from being able to be cataloged in any artistic current.
