Oristano, the prefecture working against summer fires

In the prefect’s circular, the bodies involved in the civil protection system are invited to intensify prevention

The prefect of Oristano Salvatore Angieri sent a circular to all the bodies involved in the civil protection system to draw attention to the need to implement the programming of the respective operational procedures necessary for the strengthening of prevention activities in view of the arrival of the season summer.

“It is necessary – declared the prefect – to proceed well in advance considering that already from the current month, with high temperatures and strong winds, the ignition of fires is facilitated”.

In particular, underlines the note from the prefecture, the Fire Brigade, in collaboration with the Regional Forestry Corps, will be responsible for the technical coordination of the rescue operations, while the Police Force will be called upon to strengthen the control device of the territory. The Port Authority will ensure the intensification of surveillance of the coasts also to identify the areas suitable for the procurement of sea water by aerial vehicles involved in emergencies.

In the same circular, the prefect also drew the attention of the mayors to the need to draw up and update the municipal and inter-municipal civil protection plans in which it is necessary to highlight the potential and current risk areas – including sites of historical, artistic, landscape, archaeological – and to inform the population about the risks and the rules of conduct to be adopted.

Finally, a similar reminder was addressed to the managers of the various road infrastructures due to the fundamental importance of the prevention activities to be implemented at the beginning of the summer season.
