Children of Grassano at safety school by the Fire Brigade

The sound of the siren with the arrival of ladder trucks, the activation of the hydrators in case of fires and that spirit of self-sacrifice, of altruism, which fascinates and strikes everyone, when the firefighters or ‘firemen’ as they continue to call them arrive many. For the young students of the “Don Bosco” nursery school – IC Arcangelo Ilvento Comprehensive Institute of Grassano (Matera) visiting the “Giuseppe Giglio” barracks in Matera it was an opportunity for simulation activities, which saw them as protagonists, to learn a lot about safety culture. They did it with the active and retired police officers, custodians of so much experience. And then the visit to the vehicles, sitting in the cabin and with sirens and flashing lights, which strengthened respect and friendship towards men and women ready to leave when 115 rings.

On the morning of 30 April 2024, a group of 15 children attending the last year of the “Don Bosco” nursery school – Istituto Comprensivo IC Arcangelo Ilvento in Grassano (MT), reached the Headquarters of the Fire Brigade Command. . of Matera.Welcome by the barracks staff and the pensioners of the National Fire Brigade Association, the children were able to view the internal spaces of the buildings in via Giglio, the vehicles and equipment used during the rescue activity.The children were immersed in the operational reality of the Fire Brigade thanks to some simulations in which they were the protagonists. For the curious and attentive students, it was a real day of celebration, for the Fire Brigade. This was a further opportunity to extend the process of disseminating the “Safety Culture” to schools in the province of Matera.
