The Carabinieri of Caivano have foiled a dangerous attempt to place counterfeit olive oil on the market.
During a normal control of the territory, the military stopped a woman from Afragola, already known to the police, while she was driving a small van. In the bed of the vehicle, the Carabinieri found approximately 900 liters of olive oil contained in green tin containers.
Inside the car, the Carabinieri discovered a further disturbing element: a pad with prints of hundreds of falsified and not yet applied labels, attributable to a well-known oil brand.
The entire shipment of oil, believed to be counterfeit, was immediately seized and subjected to seizure. The Carabinieri also reported the 27-year-old for the crimes provided for in Article 5 of Law 283/1962, which punishes the sale of non-genuine food substances.
The investigations continue
Chemical analyzes on the seized oil are underway at the competent laboratories. The Carabinieri will continue their investigations to shed light on the origin of the counterfeit product and to identify any accomplices of the reported woman.
The intervention of the Carabinieri made it possible to avoid the risk that a product that was unsafe for the health of consumers would end up on the tables of unsuspecting citizens.
