Cremona Evening – Contemporary Cremona

Cremona Contemporanea opens from 18 to 26 May | Art Week: the week dedicated to contemporary art, with the artistic direction of Rossella Farinotti which will liven up Cremona with installations by 19 international artists (the furthest comes from Argentina) distributed across 27 city locations.

It will be a week dedicated to the visual arts which will transform Cremona into a place of experimentation and knowledge, through exhibitions, meetings and events aimed at promoting dialogue between contemporary art and the city’s historical-artistic heritage. The initiative, created with the artistic direction of Rossella Farinotti and the coordination of CFAgency, is promoted by the Department of Culture of Cremona with the collaboration of the Province of Cremona, the Chamber of Commerce of Cremona and Confcommercio of the province of Cremona.

In the morning the event was previewed at a press conference in the presence of Roberto Codazzi, president of Confcommercio Impresa cultura, Giandomenico Auricchio president of the Chamber of Commerce of Cremona, the councilor for culture Luca Burgazzi, Leonardo Caldonazzo representing the Arvedi Buschini Foundation and owner of the Triangolo art gallery, Ottavio Corali of Fineco Bank and of course Rossella Farinotti as curator of the event.

Some of the installations and works were then revealed in preview in the locations that will make up the Art Week itinerary throughout the city, presented directly by the artists themselves: 19 important contemporary artists active on the international scene, different in generation and approach, selected by the curator for the impact of their works and for adherence to the history and themes of the Cremonese places in which they will be welcomed. An artistic journey that becomes a dialogue between the works and the places themselves that host them and which in many cases are not usually open to the public.

“Cremona Contemporanea | Art Week has quickly established itself as one of the most anticipated events in our city, but also across the national and international scene. An important intuition that was able to bring contemporary art to the historical places of Cremona with the aim of building bridges, contaminations and the capacity for dialogue between the past and the present. The city has thus rediscovered itself as a welcoming place, capable of accepting the challenge of modernity, without losing its roots, thus building an important cultural operation. I would also like to underline that this year not only has the perimeter of open places been expanded, but also the collaboration with many local entities. The strength of Cremona Contemporanea|Art Week, in fact, lies in the ability to enter into a profound dialogue with the city, with its vital forces, thus stimulating creative processes that enrich our entire community. A special thanks therefore to Rosella Farinotti and the entire team who, with great passion and ability, coordinated and built this second edition of the Art Week. Finally, thanks to all the artists involved who, with their talent, offer the city opportunities for reflection and discussion!”,declares Luca BurgazziCouncilor for Culture of the Municipality of Cremona

“This year we worked meticulously in 27 different places, some of which were new, to be discovered. The dialogue with the artists, invited both from Italy and abroad, was intense and fruitful in developing imaginaries that will activate small and large narratives in every place. In addition to the numerous new productions created for Cremona and for the Art Week, the city is also animated by special projects, which we have called Faville, which – between performance events, off-city exhibitions, and presentations – create a living path, to be discovered with the map, our website and the numerous volunteers who you will find as guides in each location together with us”, comment Rossella Farinotti
