It is 2.09pm on Sunday 28 April. A person walks on the sidewalk in via Umberto Maddalena, in the Casale district. The camera of a house records her from the opposite side of the road. After about 17 seconds you hear the sound of skidding. The pedestrian, having almost reached the edge of the frame, takes cover behind the column of the perimeter wall of an apartment building.
A few moments later a BMW C Series station wagon appears. The car, out of control, crashes into the wall and knocks it down. Then he continues the race for about fifty meters, losing a wheel and various pieces of bodywork, until the final spin.
The video of the accident that occurred early yesterday afternoon is making the rounds in chats. The impact between that pedestrian and the car was avoided by a matter of seconds. If the passerby had crossed the path of the car, now, perhaps, we would be talking about a tragedy. But fortunately the drama was only touched upon.
The driver of the BMW, a 44-year-old from Brindisi, was transported to hospital under yellow code and discharged in the afternoon. The investigations ordered by the Local Police highlighted a blood alcohol level higher than the permitted level. For this reason his driving license was revoked, in addition to other sanctions for traffic violations. In the video no other cars are seen involved. The roar caused by the impact with the wall alarmed the residents.
