LATINA – It is Professor Giorgio Parisi’s day. Tomorrow, Tuesday 30 November, Lievito brings the 2021 Nobel Prize for Physics to the stage of the D’Annunzio theatre. A gift that the event intended to give to the city, with the precious support of the many sponsors who allowed the meeting to be free. Everyone can listen starting from 7.30pm: those who will not be in the audience can follow the event on the event’s Facebook page or at the dedicated link: http://direttaeventi.com/lievito.

The Italian physicist will talk with the director of Lievito Scienza, Dr. Gianni Morelli.

«A Nobel is not just a prize, which is also important, – explains Morelli – but it is the unique and unrepeatable story of the person who achieved it. In this event, Latina is elated to meet Parisi, as demonstrated by the enormous response from citizens who sold out just a few hours after bookings opened.

«In this dialogue we will also try to bring out the human aspects that led Professor Parisi to achieve this result made of commitment and probably sacrifices. Another aspect that will be underlined during the meeting is what Parisi has never hidden: the necessary comparison between science and society. The Nobel Prize winner has always exposed himself publicly: he has signed appeals for the climate, the environment and public health, without ever backing down from the urgency of building a relationship between exponents of the intellectual world and civil society. In the dialogue with the citizens of Latina, his point of view on scientific issues and on the relationship between science and society, politics and power will therefore be able to emerge. The dialogue with Professor Giorgio Parisi will be enriched by audiovisual contributions with narrations and memories of former colleagues which we will use as a starting point to open reflections on some major themes. An important space will then be offered to questions from the public. Finally, the conclusion taking stock of this extraordinary opportunity offered to the city.”

«Meeting Professor Parisi is an extraordinary opportunity for Latina, there is also anticipation among young people. I want to remind you that we have a community of girls and boys here who have attended or are attending the physics faculty of Sapienza and celebrated at the university when Parisi was awarded. For them, having a Nobel in Latina, a Roman Nobel to be precise, is a real celebration.”

On the last day of the event there will also be space for photography. At 5.00 pm, in the large hall of Palazzo M, Gabriele Rossi presents “The Lizard”, his new monograph published by the American publishing house Deadbeat Club. After the launch in New York, the author chooses Lievito for the first presentation of the book in Italy . In this latest work, Rossi deals with the American landscape and with a certain not only photographic but also literary vision of this reality. Having just arrived in New York, where he resides for six months, the photographer feels overwhelmed by the metropolis and its pace, so different from that of his small town on the Italian coast. The exploration leads him to reflect on the concept of “home” and to return to the United States two more times to investigate this compulsion across more than ten states in the Midwest and West. The result is The Lizard, a collection of shots that tell America and the story of living far from home. The meeting will be moderated by the artistic director of Lievito, Renato Chiocca.

At 6.00 pm we move to the courtyard of Palazzo M for the musical-narrative show of the D’Altrocanto Despite Everything choir, directed by Paola Salvezza. “There’s a place for us… somewhere” is the intertwined story of two exoduses: the flight from Palestine to Egypt of the holy family and the journey of a Palestinian woman in search of a better future for her son. The story will alternate with popular songs of emigration and author songs performed by the female vocal group, accompanied on this occasion by Salvatore Palombi (narrator), Patrizia Pastore (voice and guitar), Francesca Bartoli (piano) and Marco Malagola ( percussion).

Lievito kids ends on a high note with the puppet show “Fatti a pieces”, by the Chumbala Cachumbala company. The authors and performers Paolo Iorio and Carolina Cifuentes Dominguez are waiting for girls and boys at 5pm in the fireplace room.

Given the meeting with Parisi, the appointment in the foyer of Palazzo M with the tasting is brought forward to 7pm. They are offered by the Strada dei Vini and the Assunta restaurant.
