“Millions unspent, damage to the city”

“The Port is a central theme for the development of the city”. Yesterday it was Andrea Biancani who focused on the problem, on the occasion of the electoral lunch organized by the PD section of Villa Fastiggi, with around ten tables in the club hall, where 170 diners and some of the Dem candidates among those on the list for the European elections found a place (only Alessia Morani present) and administrative meetings. The latter – Andrea Salvatori, Sara Mengucci, Andrea Nobili, Luca Pagnoni Di Dario, Flavia Magi, Monica Manenti – tested by the competition, but happy to “find themselves”, just before dessert, gathered next to Biancani and the rally began .

The center-left mayoral candidate summarized the seven “challenges” of the program, but in particular, on the port, he took the bull by the horns. “I know very well that the direct responsibility does not lie with the mayor, but I will be a mayor who, in compliance with institutional roles, will make himself heard with the port authority”. What would be the priorities Biancani is talking about? “The port needs to be dredged – he said –: it is a resource. There are 11 and a half million euros. The Port Authority has not yet started, after years, even to carry out surveys to verify what material there is. Now we cannot welcome tourist boats that want to come to Pesaro, because there are no berths. We have a completed dock that the Port Authority had forgotten about.”

Biancani goes into specifics. “Ten years ago, the Delrio law allowed for simplified variations. We could have transformed half of the dock from commercial to tourist. It wasn’t done. The Municipality had decided, but the project remained in the drawer. I’ve been telling everyone for three years ‘Port Authority to at least start the variant. They tell me it has been started: it is up to the Superior Council of Public Works in Rome to speed up: we cannot slow down an economy due to bureaucratic byzantineism the dock is better: I don’t see why we should give it up. We have an international shipyard, like the Rossini; we have the fishermen with their activities; we have the tourist connection system with Croatia They’re already there.”

The room appreciated the energy: “It would be nice – observes Barbara, resident in via Morosini, port area, sitting on the table on the left – to arrange the canal to make it a place of sociality”. But the loudest applause came in response to the promise of greater maintenance for sidewalks and streets. “That’s right – observe Fabio Mirsigotti and Viviana Guiducci –: it’s the first thing to do here at Villa Fastiggi too”. Mrs. Edera is the inevitable volunteer and waits at the tables. We ask you what expectations you have of Biancani. “Andrea must remain as he is: modest, always ready to give an answer to the questions that the citizen entrusts to him”. In the kitchen we find Enzo Romani and Andrea Salvatori, intent on portioning out the wigeons with ragù, but here comes the reversal of King Baldantoni who doesn’t want the journalists to slow down the report: the shells, peas and ragù get cold and then there’s the commitment with the diners to do a “quick thing, so everyone can go back to their own work”. After all, if there is a place where “bread and politics” have always been at home, it is certainly Villa Fastiggi.
