SCERNI. “I saw the truck arriving at high speed, it didn’t slow down, so I immediately braked because I realized that there was something wrong in front, there was some problem.”
To recount those terrible moments of the accident on the A 14 on May 14th (Laws) he is the driver of a bus originally from Scerni Renato Di Fabio. In an interview with Tg3 the man retraces those moments in which he promptly intervened together with three other truck drivers and two boys from his town.
“We saw the car catch fire and we tried to force the door, but we couldn’t do it. On board, at the wheel, there was a woman who was conscious but very scared. Then we tried to bend the two columns and so on. we managed to open it.”
The Fiat Punto was apparently violently rear-ended by a car transporter and the car caught fire, triggering a collision involving two other cars.
The forty-year-old woman was urgently transferred by air ambulance to Pescara while the other two, who suffered minor injuries, were transferred to the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Chieti.
The firefighters, the 118 health workers and the agents of the seventh section of the traffic police intervened on site.
