Genoa – The full container ship Jolly Verde, from 6,300 teuhas officially entered the Ignazio Messina fleet and “marks a milestone in the rapidly developing history of the company – we read in a note released by the owner – It is in fact the largest ship to wear the Linea Messina livery”.
The Jolly Verde is the first of two particularly versatile sister ships suitable for traffic to/from the Middle East and India: previously owned by a German shipping group which had used it on the rental market, the ship, renamed by Genoese company Jolly Verde, will be entrusted to Commander Francesco Scotto from Fasano di Procida whose crew is made up of 22 seafarers, 19 of whom are Italian.
With the purchase by Ignazio Messina & C., the Jolly Verde will change flag (it was flying the Portuguese one) and will fly the Italian tricolor at the stern with registration in the Maritime Department at the Port Authority of Genoa.
283 meters long by 40 meters wide, with a dwt of 80,000 tonnes, the Jolly Verde is capable of transporting 6,300 TEUs. The delivery took place today at 12.30 in the Belgian port of Antwerp.
