Descriptive text here

April 29, 2024 William And Kate they are celebrating their thirteenth wedding anniversary. Their union made millions of people dream. Many saw in this happy union a sort of redemption of feelings after the collapse of Charles and Diana’s marriage. As if, in a certain sense, the Princes of Wales had fulfilled the dream that Lady D saw shattered before her eyes. The story of William and Kate remains a hymn to love especially now that the princess is more fragile due to illness.

The first meeting

We know that William and Kate first met at St. Andrews University. In reality, as royal expert Katie Nicholl pointed out in her book “The Future Queen” (2013), cited by the Express, this information would not be exactly accurate. The two, in fact, found themselves a few steps away from each other when they were alone nine yearswhen their schools faced each other in a hockey game: “Nearby Ludrove Prep School often played matches against St. Andrews Prep and there was great excitement when William, left back from Ludgrove’s Colts, came to St. Andrews”the school Kate attended.

Nobody knows if the future princes had the opportunity to chat or if their eyes met. In any case “though of course [Kate] wasn’t interested in boys, the arrival of that particular boy caught her attention.”. It wasn’t the only coincidence. Once adults, before enrolling in university, William and Kate took a gap year. The Prince traveled to Belize with the Welsh Guards, the princess in Florence to study Art. Before reaching their respective destinations, however, the two spent ten weeks in Chile as volunteers. They even selected the same organization, Raleigh International.

But they didn’t meet, because “they had chosen different weeks” to participate in the aid program, revealed Malcolm Sutherland, assigned to act as a guide on both trips. William he left in October 2000, Kate in January 2001. A coincidence “absolutely crazy”.

At St. Andrews

In 2000 Kate Middleton he enrolled at the University of Edinburgh but after about a year he decided to change university and finish his studies at St. Andrews (Scotland). Some believe that this choice would have been, in some way, guided by the princess’s mother, Carole, who was determined to have her daughter meet the future King of England.

This is how it happened: William and Kate would have met, for the first time, in one of the corridors of theUniversity. “Actually when I met you I blushed and ran away. I was very shy”the princess said during the interview she gave together with William to the UK Press Association in 2010. William added: “When I saw Kate for the first time, I knew there was something special about her.”

That meeting would remain in the minds and hearts of both of them. They started dating also thanks to the proximity of their apartments. The prince, in fact, lived above Kate’s apartment. In 2004 their story became public. In fact, photos of the couple skiing in Switzerland appeared in the newspapers.

According to the tabloids, however, the exact moment in which William truly understood that he was in love with the princess came in 2002. Galeotta was a parade organized for charity at St. Andrews. For the occasion, Kate faced the catwalk in a transparent black and gold mini dress by Charlotte Todd. “It was the end of the first year”, he reminded “E! News a friend of William, Ben Duncan. “…[Kate] she was wearing a daring dress…[William] He was sitting in the front row and couldn’t take his eyes off her.”. It seems that the prince paid as much as 400 dollars to get the best place.

Engagement and marriage

Clarence House announced William and Kate’s engagement on 16 November 2010. William proposed to Kate during a holiday in Kenya in October 2010. On that occasion he gave her Kate’s engagement ring. Lady Diana, the famous 12-carat sapphire, surrounded by 14 round diamonds, in a white gold setting. On November 23 of the same year, the wedding date was confirmed, namely April 29, 2011. A non-random day, given that Saint Catherine of Siena is celebrated and the princess’s full name is, in fact, Catherine.

The wedding ceremony took place in Westminster Abbey and had a global media impact: 2 billion people watched the live broadcast from all over the world and a million English people poured into the streets of London.

Thirteen years later, despite Kate’s pain and illness, the fairy tale that began on that April day still shines with an intense light, emanating from the charismatic and fascinated figures of princes of Walesthe hope of the British monarchy.
