CURTATONE – A large fire broke out this evening shortly after 9pm in an agricultural courtyard located in Buscoldo in via Colombina almost at the intersection with via Martiri del Lavoro.
The flames broke out in a tensile structure that was full of round bales and spread very quickly.
The Mantua Fire Brigade intervened on site with three tankers. The fire extinguishing operations continued for several hours. The timely intervention fortunately prevented the fire from spreading to other tensile structures close to the one where it broke out.
The causes of the fire which caused tens of thousands of euros in damage are yet to be clarified. This is hay that has been stored for many months, it is difficult but not impossible that it could have been spontaneous combustion but malicious action cannot be ruled out either. This is also in light of two other fires that also broke out in Curtatone in the previous hours. On Saturday evening the flames had broken out in the Serraglio countryside in a barn, also full of round bales.
In the early afternoon, around 2pm, a third fire broke out in an agricultural courtyard in Via Arginotto in Curtatone. An agricultural vehicle kept inside an old stable caught fire, for reasons still being ascertained. The alarm went off at 1.45pm, also in this case the timely intervention of the Fire Brigade prevented the flames from spreading to other agricultural vehicles housed in the stable.
