An entire community is in shock. Settingiano mourns the death of Frank Melina, 37 years old, married with two children. He is the victim of the terrible accident that occurred this morning in the Mellaro area, in the municipality of Casali del Manco, in the heart of the Sila area of Cosenza. What was supposed to be a peaceful motorbike trip turned into a huge tragedy.
Frank had no escape, driving his bike which, for reasons still under investigation, collided with a car traveling in the opposite direction along the state road 108 bis “Silana di Cariati”. Together with him, two other centaurs were involved in the accident and were seriously injured. They were rescued by 118 and transported by helicopter to the “Pugliese” hospital in Catanzaro and the Annunziata hospital in Cosenza. Their conditions are considered critical and are currently in danger of life. In addition to the 118 health workers, the carabinieri from the local station intervened on site and started investigations to reconstruct the exact dynamics of what happened. Anas staff are also in action to allow circulation to be restored in the shortest possible time.
