L’Fefé de Giorgi’s Italy wins again in a friendly: it ends 3-1 (26-24, 25-18, 20-25, 25-20) against Turkey. A good performance for the Azzurri who give continuity to the victory against Serbia.

In the first set there is notable balance and neither team manages to take an advantage in the first phase. Turkey goes ahead 11-9 with a nice diagonal shot from Lagumdzija, but the Azzurri react with two splendid blocks from Anzani and Romanò. At the end of the set Michieletto grows a lot and the balance is broken at the second set point by Lavia’s block which gives the first set to De Giorgi’s boys 26 to 24.

On the strength of the first set won, the Azzurri start again strongly in the second set too: the aces of Romanò and Lavia immediately set the score on the right track for Italy, which extended further in the central phase with an exceptional Michieletto. A couple of blocks from Romanò close the score and the Azzurri win the second half 25-18.

Third set which instead is negative for the reigning World Champions: Bulbul drags Turkey who gains a consistent advantage from the start and Italy will not be able to come back. From 10-14 other errors arrive for the Azzurri also in the service, too many inaccuracies that lead everything to the fourth set (25-20).

Fourth set (25-20) in which the Azzurri rewound the tape: after a difficult start, Porro and Gironi with a block and an ace gave the lead 19-18 to Italy who then never gave up the leadership: two more blocks from Porro and Cavalese’s joy for another success after the one against Serbia yesterday.
