REGGIO – Sunday at the MArRC “Culture travels on the sea”

The event will be held on Sunday 9 June at the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria, at 7pm Culture travels by sea: From Magna Graecia to world 4.0organized by the MArRC together with the Harmonie d’Arte Foundation.

The event will begin with a press conference to communicate the programmatic vision of the new director of the Museum, Dr. Fabrizio Sudano who will dialogue with Chiara Giordano president of the Armonie d’Arte Foundation and artistic director of the Festival which, now in its 24th edition this year, will dedicate a special section to the Museum of Reggio Calabria. This collaboration arises from the desire to enhance the great Italian as well as Calabrian heritage, from a cultural perspective that places a renewed narrative and a different positioning of the Mediterranean in the global socio-cultural and socio-economic debate at the centre.

Followed by an international jazz concert with renowned artists such as Dave Weckl on the battery, John Patitucci on double bass and Joy Calderazzo on the floor. The Mediterranean has always been a material and immaterial space of cultural syncretism and jazz can be the most fruitful example of this through a conjugation that appears coherent and engaging for every target.

It will be a pleasure to launch the new MArRC programming – he said the director Sudano – in this climate of ferment and contamination. Just before the jazz concert, we will share with the audience present ideas, projects, small and large events that the Museum has organized also thanks to fruitful dialogue with local bodies and associations”.

«We are very excited, galvanized – ha President Giordano continued – and we feel all the responsibility of developing for the first time a section of an international Festival such as Armonie d’Arte has been for years now within a powerful place like the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio; we will try to live up to the trust that the Director of the Sudan Museum has placed in us and that, moreover, all of us in the cultural community and beyond place in him and in his capacity for renewed protagonism of the Museum and of Reggio Calabria at the center of the national and international panorama”.
