Dramatic road accident yesterday outside the hamlet of San Graziano di Valeggio sul Mincio (Verona). A young man of just 18 years old, Stefano Diaferio, he died after losing control of his scooter while he was returning home after going to his house athletic trainer. There were less than 200 meters to his home.

It happened in via Galileo Ferraris: the boy went off the road while he was on his scooter for reasons that are still being ascertained. Apparently, according to an initial reconstruction of the facts, no other vehicle was involved.

The Suem rescuers and the Verona emergency helicopter were on site, but there was nothing that could be done for the victim. Despite attempts to resuscitate him, the 118n health workers could not help but declare his death.

Born in 2006, he leaves behind his father Giuseppe, mother Janine and older sister Francesca. She attended the Galileo Galilei high school and was one of the star athletes of cycling club Barbers. It was in fact a promise of the mountain biking. His teammates were waiting for him in Stevenà di Caneva for yet another race in the junior category and the number 24 that should have been pinned to his shirt was already ready.
