He will present his book “The glory and the test. My new cinema paradise 2.0”
Monday 29 April, at 10.30 am, in the multipurpose room of the Institute “Gaetano Guarino” by Favaraon the occasion of International Book and Copyright Day, meeting with Salvatore Cascio who will present his book “The glory and the test. My new cinema paradise 2.0”, published by Baldini + Castoldi and written with Giorgio De Martino.
The author, the unforgettable child protagonist of the film by Giuseppe Tornatore “New Cinema Paradiso”recounts in the book the serious illness that struck him from a very young age and which caused him a progressive, irreversible and almost total loss of sight, to the point of making him give up what was a promising and radiant career.
At the age of 42 Totò Cascio found the strength and desire to tell his experience in a book that is both a cinematic memory and a story of training and rebirth, thanks to his faith and courage.
He will talk about it with students from the “Ambrosini” Hotel Institute and the “Guarino” Comprehensive Institute who will solicit Totò Cascio with questions, reflections, artistic performances and curiosities.
The guest of the meeting was the doctor Carmela TataRegional guarantor authority for people with disabilities in Sicily, in all social contexts.
“The initiative – explains the Guarino principal Gabriella Bruccoleri – is part of a broad and complex project aimed at developing young people’s love of reading and sensitivity towards diversity, making reference to authentic and concrete life testimonies, to better educate young people about mutual respect, to self-affirmation, from an individual and community perspective”.
