Bassano, the death of the worker Riccardo Gobbo is being investigated. The family: «he breathed paint»

No one expected the death of Riccardo Gobbo, the 57-year-old from Bassano who died on Wednesday, at 2 am, after being admitted to San Bassiano on Sunday. Gobbo’s death was so sudden and shocking that it prompted the worker’s family to ask for clarification on his death. The suspicion of the father and brother is that the man, a painter in a company in the Bassano area for years, may have inhaled dangerous paints or solvents while carrying out his duties. So he breathed substances that could to have been there cause of his death.

The file and the autopsy

A case has already been opened in the prosecutor’s office for manslaughter against unknown persons Vicenza and Friday afternoon, after the assignment of the technical consultancy, the autopsy was carried out on the body. The deputy prosecutor Maria Elena Pinna arranged for the medical examiner Antonello Cirnelli and the toxicologist Donata Favretto to examine the body and take fluid samples, and then investigate whether any substances were present in the fifty-seven-year-old’s body, and of what type, which could have caused the death. Or if instead his death was caused by another factor, such as an illness or a pathology ongoing not yet diagnosed. To clarify Gobbo’s death, the hospital documentation relating to any previous admissions and hospitalizations will also be taken into consideration, so as to reconstruct the health conditions of the victim. It is likely that Gobbo’s doctor, Dr. Stela Didenco from Cusinati di Rosà, will also be heard during the investigations.

The party’s technical consultants

The party’s technical consultants appointed by the family were also present during the autopsy examination. The father Pierino Gobbo who lived with his son, now protected by the lawyer Paola Stragliotto, appointed Dr. Jennifer Paola Pascali; while his brother Emiliano, protected by the lawyer Paolo Marangoni, chose doctor Paolo Fais for him. «I am confident in my consultant’s work – said Marangoni – but we should wait for answers.” Only in 90 days will it be possible to have the results of all the tests carried out. At the moment what is certain is that the fifty-seven year old returned home after his work shift. Here he started to feel unwell, he got behind the wheel of his car and headed to the emergency room of the San Bassiano hospital. He never left those doors again, a few moments after his arrival his condition worsened and hospitalization was necessary. Wednesday his heart it stopped beating.
