Ariano Irpino
The officers of the Ariano Irpino police station, led by the deputy commissioner Maria Felicia Salerno they arrested a 49-year-old local man who committed family abuse and aggravated personal injury to his elderly 72-year-old live-in mother.
During yet another argument that arose for trivial reasons, the man insulted, humiliated, beat and threatened the mother with death. Fortunately, the woman managed to escape from the house and ask for help by calling 113.
The immediate intervention of the police allowed the woman to be reassured and what happened to be reconstructed.
It emerged that on several occasions her son had threatened her with death, telling her that he would cut her throat or throw her from the balcony. Furthermore, she suffered various humiliations as a woman, as a mother and as a wife when her son spat on her, told her she was no good, offending her with insults of all kinds and accusing her of not having been either a good mother or a good wife.
Out of love for her son, the woman only decided to report him in February to put an end to the constant harassment of which she had been a victim for some time.
However, when the man became aware of the complaint, rather than desist from his deplorable behaviour, he progressively intensified his illicit conduct to the point of placing his hands on her and causing personal injury.
Taking into account the seriousness of the conduct, the conditions being met, the man was arrested in flagrante delicto and associated at the local prison awaiting the confirmation hearingfrom.
The arrest carried out constitutes a precautionary measure applied during preliminary investigations, against which appeals are permitted and the recipient of the same is a person subjected to investigations and therefore presumed innocent until a final sentence is reached.
